Letters from home

As part of our WW2 topic, the children in Year 3/4, who were pretending to be evacuees from London, wrote letters home. They explained what their train journey had been like, how nervous they had been at the Billeting office as they waited to be chosen by a host family and what it was like living in the countryside.

You can imagine how excited the children were to receive some letters from home back! It seems as though the parents are also very sad to have been separated from their children, but are glad that they are safe in the countryside. Don't worry parents we will be back soon when the war is over...

(It was wonderful to see the children acting out the evacuation process during  our Sponsored Walk. Many of them were acting out how excited they would have been to see a cow for the very first time!)
