Our next door neighbours at Cholsey Day Centre
The school band played before Christmas Lunch at the Day Centre and spent time chatting with the members. After lunch 50 members of the school choir entertained them with carols and Christmas songs. It was lovely to see all ages joining together to sing the old favourites. Thank you once again to Ms Atkins and Mr Barlow for their enthusiasm and hard work.

Choir 'World' Tour
Today, choir members from years 5 and 6 entertained residents in our local care homes with a selection of Christmas carols and songs. Our 'World Tour' started in Huntercombe with an hour-long concert to a packed lounge. We then performed for patients at Wallingford Hospital before moving on to Westgate house, Wallingford, singing to residents in three separate lounges.
The children sang beautifully having learnt eighteen songs with only one short rehearsal! Many children volunteered to sing solos and all performed with confidence. We enjoyed chatting to the residents and even met a gentleman at Huntercombe who was 100 years old!
Thank you to Grace, who returned to help us, and Mr Barlow for their piano accompaniment, and of course to Ms Atkins for organising the event.

OPEN staff meeting
Over 70 teachers joined us at Cholsey for an OPEN staff meeting on Monday. The staff met in year groups to moderate the new assessments for writing. Although we are all finding the changes tricky, it was great to be able to share both our concerns and our good tips with one another. It would be so much harder if we weren't in such a strong team.

Blewbury Band and Carols
We welcomed 5 members of Blewbury Band this morning to our assembly. They accompanied our carols and we also enjoyed singing along to Jingle Bells.

Stone Age Art
Today in 34PA, as part of our Stone Age topic, the children pounded and ground charcoal and chalks on a shoulder blade to create powder which they mixed with oil to create paint pigments. They will attempt to paint with these next week.
