Adult Learning

Congratulations to the Learning Hub team at their launch today.

Forest School

Here is a photo of the crocodile that came to Forest School this morning.  The children worked really well together, catching the "croc" in the pool, dragging it over to the seating area and then collaborating to collect mud and decorations to create the crocodile.  It was fantastic to observe.

Art update

This has been a fantastic project where every child from Cholsey Primary School has taken part. They have been studying movement in art and for this exhibition have focussed on British summer sports. They were also very inspired by the techniques of many artists:

Monet           Escher         Bracques              Matisse                    Seurat

Why not go along and see whether you can spot which piece was inspired by each of these artists?

Early Years - crowd scene
Year 1 & 2 – tennis racquet inners
Year 3 & 4 – water paintings for the wave
Year 5 & 6 – tennis racquet frames
KS2 children photographed, painted, cut out and constructed “Wireless”, our surfer, and produced the final piece of art that you see before you. Enjoy!

Young Enterprise

Well done to all the year 6s who have been working so hard over the last few weeks to set up stalls for the school fete as part of our Cholsey Young Enterprise initiative.

The teams were challenged with creating a company name, logo and product for the school fete and competed to make the most overall profit. 5 teams entered: Oddballs, Rainbow Rio, Football Frenzy, The Extraordinary Crew and Get the Rio Look.

They learnt many key skills such as teamwork, communication, budgeting, profit analysis and of course selling. Different tasks were set throughout the run up to the fete and points were awarded after each one. Adding those points to the profit made at the fete gave us the winning team Rainbow Rio - whose stall at the fete, shooting birds, was very popular. Get the Rio Look and Oddballs were close behind, having made high profits at the fete. All teams did really well.

A big thank you to Susie Pocock, one of our parents, who gave up a considerable amount of her time to help with this.

Kick Rounders

Today was the last Kick Rounders session. Our 'Sports Leaders' have done a fantastic job running the club. I have been really impressed with how quickly the children have progressed and how fantastic our older children have been with our young club members.

Fete Day

We are very resilient at Cholsey and didn't let a drop of rain stop us from partying Rio style. Thank you everyone for helping and supporting today.

Cricket

On Friday eight Y4/5 children took part in the 'Chance to Shine' cricket festival at North Moreton Cricket Club. The children demonstrated excellent skills and we were really impressed by the fielding in particular.
In one of the photos you can see the children searching for the ball Jack hit after he struck it so hard it flew across the boundary and ended in someone's garden! The children worked really well as a group and demonstrated excellent sportsmanship.
Overall, we came a respectable 4th place, scoring a grand total of 690 runs against some tough opponents!
A big thank you to our parent drivers and supporters and to Mrs Stanley for providing half time refreshments.
