It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas....

HUGE Thank You to parents who have very kindly bought gifts for all our classes from the Amazon Wish list. We are VERY grateful!

Here is a small selection of photos:

Nightingales say "Thank you so much to whoever brought our wonderful k’nex kit! We are really enjoying making some of the tiny models and exploring how it all fits together. We are learning about following instructions from the pictures and about how we can create super models of our own.

Walking with Emmet

Emmet has been working hard on his training, which a few of the older children are helping him with. Today, he donned his new Cholsey School coat to go on a walk with a few of his younger friends.

Despite the cold and the fog, everyone enjoyed themselves and were suitably tired and muddy after a lot of running around!

We were so impressed with the children's behaviour on the walk; especially the way they behaved respectfully around Emmet, remembering how to approach him. Emmet did well too!

Year 2 - Divaali celebrations

Yr 2 have been listening to and watching different versions the Hindu story of Divaali, the festival of light.

They used the nature area to retell and sequence the story as well as retelling through tree decorations and dance using scarves, shakers and 'jingling' sashes.

We will go onto comparing symbols of light and themes of good over evil and new beginnings with the Christian Nativity story.

Remembrance

A huge thank you to Tabitha, who played ‘The Last Post’ on her trombone for the year 5/6 two minutes silence. We were delighted that the builders joined in with our silence (from their side of the fence) to remember those who have served and are currently serving in our armed forces.

Tabitha’s mum very kindly sent in a video recording for the other bubbles to view in class for their 2minutes silence.

Outdoor Adventurous Activities

Year 5/6 have been learning all about teamwork, communication and tactics in PE this week. As part of our Complete PE Scheme of work the children have been developing their Physical, Social, Personal and Problem Solving skills through playing human sized versions of board games such as Connect 4, Noughts and Crosses and Rock, Paper, Scissors!

It has been great to see the children developing their tactical thinking and their leadership skills. For some children it has encouraged them to listen more carefully to their team members and for others it has given them the courage to speak out and have confidence in sharing their ideas. It was especially lovely to see the children demonstrating our sporting values by congratulating the other teams and shaking hands at the end of each game.
