Science and the Solar Systen

This week King Cobras explored how the Solar System is organised - with a little help from Professor Brian Cox and "The Planets"! The children learned about how the Earth's gravity (and the sun) keep our moon in orbit. It's truly amazing what you can demonstrate with a piece of string and a cork. You'll need to look closely at the photos as the moon was orbiting quite quickly!

Band News

Our Brass and Wind bands entertained members of the Oasis group at the Baptist Church in Wallingford this week. They gave a toe tapping performance which was thoroughly enjoyed by all present.

A letter from the Her Majesty the Queen

One of the children in Year 3/4 received an exciting letter in the post today... a letter from the Queen! She wrote a letter to the Queen last month asking her lots of questions about what it is like to be a Queen and to live in Buckingham Palace. Needless to say, she and her class were thrilled to receive her reply!

WW2 Artifacts

Today, the children in Y3/4 had the chance to learn more about some of the equipment used during 'The Blitz' during WW2. The children learnt all about Air Raid Precaution and even got to dress up in some of the uniforms! It was very exciting!

Thank you to Gary and Glenn for coming in to talk to the children about this very exciting topic.

KS1 Multi-Skills Festival

The children had a great time at a multi-skills festival this morning and were determined not to let the rain stop them!
They had to work hard to practise teamwork as well as personal challenges and they all received medals for their great effort.

Moon Landings - Real or Fake?!!

This week the year 5/6's have been gathering evidence to be able to eventually write a balanced argument about whether or not man has been to the moon.🌘

In preparation for this writing, Anaconda class today held a debate on the matter.  I was really impressed with the way in which they conducted the debate. There was excellent listening and responding and some very factual evidence presented. The enthusiasm shown was amazing. Following the debate they held a final vote and the majority decided that the Moon Landing was NOT a fake and that there was far too much evidence there to prove that Neil Armstrong and Buzz did land on the moon.

Mathematical Creations

The Year 6s have been working on some very interesting mathematical drawings this week. They have created Parabolic Curves and Vedic Squares. They were surprised that they could create curves from straight lines! They used their knowledge of times tables to calculate digital roots then created  Vedic squares from the results. Here are some examples:
