Dolphins Picnic

Today Dolphin class celebrated their hard work this year with a class picnic in the park. In keeping with Healthy Active Lifestyles week we talked about the food groups and the children really enjoyed eating their summer fruits and strawberries. We discussed that being active doesn't always mean competing in sports; it can be something as simple as stopping at the park on your way home from school.

Thank you to Mrs Jordan and Mrs Turner for joining us. They have been a key part of our class' teaching team this year.

Ultimate Frisbee

For Healthy Active Lifestyles week the children had a short taster session of Ultimate Frisbee. The children transferred skills from rugby, netball, football and hockey to partake in this new game. We are really grateful to Ignite Sports for running these sessions and the clubs all year.

School Council Representatives at the Governors' Meeting

Representatives from the September and February School Councils came along to the final governors' meeting of the year and explained what they have been focussing on in school and class council meetings.

Year 6 Aspirations Afternoon

There was a great buzz this afternoon in the library at our very first Year 6 Aspirations afternoon.  We are very grateful to the professionals who came along to talk to the children about their careers.
Thank you to Helen and Jane from Flying High who asked the children about their interests and then invited the relevant people along.  We had scientists, engineers, a hairdresser, a doctor, an estate agent, PR expert, television producer and historians among others.  Our judge, who couldn't attend today, sent a presentation and also answered questions by email.

Rumble in the Jungle

Y3/4 Science

Elephant class had an explosive science lesson with an explosion of colours from "Skittles"; discovering how washing up liquid affects food colouring on milk; raisins rising and falling in lemonade; dropping popping candy in lemonade and capturing carbon dioxide gas in a balloon; glittery volcanos and of course the favourite - mints into cola to create an eruption!

Comments from the children ranged from "Awesome", "Amazing" to "It was so terrific, I really want to do it again!"

I think they liked it!

Year 3/4L French Cafe

On Tuesday 3/4L ran their very own 'French Cafe'. The children worked hard throughout the morning preparing their baguettes, salads and tarts. Once lunchtime arrived, the children served each other and the staff their lunch. We were all impressed by the French vocabulary the children used and how efficient the waiting staff were. Well done!
