Year 6 Visit RAF Benson

On Tuesday, the children in Year 6 visited RAF Benson. They were given a special mission to deliver books and teachers to local schools as Oxfordshire had been flooded! The children had to use their mathematical knowledge to calculate the total weight of the teachers and books due to fly in the Puma helicopters. Where the weight was too heavy, they needed to decide how they could alter their flights so that all schools got what they needed. Whilst they were there, the children also learnt about: how the Puma and Chinook helicopters work; protective clothing; diet and keeping healthy whilst serving in the RAF and general RAF life. To end the day the PTI's gave the children a full work out by challenging them to complete a specially designed obstacle course in the gym.

Lots of fun and learning was had by all! A big 'Thank you' to the Flying High team at RAF Benson for giving our children this opportunity once again.
