Extreme Lengths

Mrs Jordan and Mrs Parr have gone above and beyond their duty as class teachers today, to retrieve the multitude of balls that get 'brooked' every day at play times. A massive thank you to Mrs Jordan for bringing her canoe in to make this possible.

Holi workshop

This term in RE, UKS2 are looking at the theme of forgiveness across different faiths.
To launch our theme, we had a visit from Indri, a member of the Hindu community. Indri told the children many Hindu stories about forgiveness including the story of Holi, which happened to be that very day! The children were taught how to put on traditional Holi festival clothing and how to perform a traditional Holi dance. They were even able to paint their faces using traditional Holi festival patterns (dots, swirls and flowers). The children had a fantastic morning dressing up and celebrating Holi as well as learnt about the importance of and beliefs around forgiveness. We will now compare this teaching to other faiths throughout the term.

Food Technology

Recently, Jamie (Y6) has been learning all about food hygiene and technology with Mrs Bowen! Last week he made tuna pasta salad with peppers and sweetcorn for his whole family! Jamie was really pleased that his family enjoyed the meal that he had made for them (they even wanted seconds!) Well done Jamie, you are working really hard on your learning goals! Next week, stir fry!

Pathologist visit

Year 3 and 4 were incredibly lucky to have a visit today from Dr. Asher, who works at the John Radcliffe hospital as a pathologist.

The children enjoyed learning about cells, organs and the biggest organ, skin. They discovered lots of fascinating facts and lots of practical ideas for staying safe in the sun.  Thank you to Dr. Asher for giving up your time, the children think you have a cool job!

World Book Day

'World Book Day this year was a huge hit and the children thoroughly enjoyed their day.  We created  some impressive potato head book inspired characters and showed them off during a whole school assembly at the end of the day.  We also raised £221 for Book Aid International which will go to buying books for children who are less fortunate than us.  Well done everybody and don't forget to use your book vouchers.'

Swimming Support

It has been lovely to have some of our Year 6 swimmers supporting the Year 3 children during their recent swimming lessons. Because of their support, the Year 3 children are becoming far more confident in the water already!

They learnt a lot about different mark making and being brave enough to have a go with different media including inks.

Here are some of their masterpieces:
