Welcome to our school blog. Here we will show you some of the things we have been getting up to at Cholsey Primary School. We would love to hear your comments (note that these may not appear immediately)

We are delighted with the arrival of our history timeline which will now be a permanent fixture in our courtyard.
This gives children the opportunity to improve their understanding of chronology and be able to appreciate how different historical periods are sequenced and overlap.
Here are Red Panda Class having a look at the Ancient Greek timeline.
A BIG thank you to the children in Year 3 and 4 who helped us launch our topic Awesome Achievements in assembly on Monday. The children took on the roles of various inventors from the past who have had a significant impact on our lives today.
We heard about inventions like the television, internet, windscreen wipers and even Barbie Dolls amongst other things!
We wonder if in years to come, Cholsey pupils may even invent something amazing themselves!
We were very excited to welcome Dr Debbie Morgan and Elizabeth Lambert from the NCETM (National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics) with a film crew to Cholsey Primary School this week. They were filming the teaching of maths in some classes in EYFS and Key Stage 1, to use as training videos for teachers around the country. Our very own Mrs Parr is a primary leader for the NCETM and hosted the day.
We received this feedback from Dr
Morgan:
‘A
huge thank you for supporting the day of filming yesterday, we had a great day
and feel we have really good footage that will become high quality videos to
support and improve the practice of teachers across the country. Liz and I were
truly inspired by your school and the quality of teaching. You should be very
proud of what you are achieving both in terms of children’s learning and the
positive culture that is reflected in so many ways, not least the kindness of
the staff and the politeness of the children we encountered around the school.’
The children in Year 5/6 have been learning about balances and transitions in their gymnastics sessions with Premier Sports. These sessions are funded by our Sport Premium funding with staff receiving CPD from the Premier Sports Coaches.
