Ballroom Dancing is Back!

 The children in UKS2 have been enjoying their ballroom and Latin dance lessons with Krystof and Natalia. It is really important for us to provide our children with a wide variety of activities to try out and engage them with PE, Physical Activity and School Sport. At the end of their unit, the classes will compete against each other to win the sports cup! 

We are really pleased to have Krystof and Natalia back working with us at Cholsey. They have very recently placed 5th Nationally and have been invited to represent Great Britain at the World Championships! We are the only school in Oxfordshire to work with them and they just love coming to Cholsey! 

This week we were perfecting our Waltz and Cha Cha. We then moved onto the very tricky Samba! 

Year 5 Water Safety

Some of the children in Year 5 had a water safety lesson with Viv and Lisa at swimming this week. The children learnt how to keep safe near open water and what to do if they ever find themselves getting into trouble when in or near water.

Archery Club

 The children in UKS2 have been enjoying archery club with Josh this term. We have been so impressed with how well the children have persevered and improved this term! Plenty of top scores at this weeks session!

It's Official - we're Outstandingly Happy

I'm delighted to say that we have had our validation visit from Will at the Art of Brilliance this morning and he was blown away with all the positivity in school.

He had no doubts whatsoever that we have met the criteria to be classed as a Gold Standard Outstandingly Happy School. We will soon be displaying this for all to see with our amazing new school banner.

The children had a fantastic assembly from Will and were encouraged to think about things they could easily start and stop doing to be even better versions of themselves. Some even pressed the magic re-set button to prove their commitment!

Thanks to everyone in the school community for supporting our journey to get Gold status :)

PE

As part of our Sports Premium expenditure, our coach, Josh, has been working with staff to ensure high quality PE lessons. This term he is working with FS and some Year 5/6 classes. The children are already enjoying his sessions! 

Sloths 3D models

 The children in Sloth class have produce some amazing 3d models of a river's journey. Working collaboratively, the children were able to demonstrate how much they have learnt about rivers and their models are fantastic!

Remembrance day

On Thursday the entire school stood silently for 2 minutes to remember those who have lost their lives in conflicts. It is always a proud moment to see this show of respect.

Lots of lovely artwork was completed around the school too!

Year 5

Whilst the Year 6 children have been away at Kilvrough, the Year 5 children have been having an exciting week of their own! The children have been producing news reports around the advert 'Excitable Edgar'. In DT they made their own clay dragons and painted them. We have also been doing lots of work around remembrance day and why it is important to take the time to stop and remember those who have fought for our country. The silhouette paintings the children produced were fantastic! 

As an additional surprise the children also had football with Josh, Ballroom Dancing with Krystof and Natalia and they even got a full hour of swimming!

An enjoyable week had by all and we cannot wait to hear all about the exciting adventures of Year 6 when they return on Monday.
